About me
I am a Digital Design and Development student at BCIT. There I have learned about Graphic Design, Web Development and Storytelling. I have a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and Sociology. In addition to this I also spent a few years teaching to build up on my communication skills. During that time I also worked on my leadership and interpersonal skills.
I enjoy working with people, and learning new skills. I am a quick learner and I am not afraid of working hard. I have lived in many places around the world including Brazil, The United States and now Canada. I enjoy exploring new cities and experiencing different cultures.
Through my experiences I have come to the conclusion that diversity is a strength. Life has taught me that problems can have more than one solution and having an open mind can give you better insights on how to solve them. I like to consider challenges in life and work as opportunities for growth.
My work
At BCIT I learned to work as part of a team. Throughout each semestre we learned to juggle multiple projects and groups at the same time as well as manage our time efficiently. I have learned to use multiple Adobe Creative Cloud programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, and Acrobat. In addition to this I have gained experience using Wordpress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, React JS, Node JS, and Jquery to create responsive and interactive websites.
Also, marketing classes have taught me the importance of search engine optimization (SEO).With this in mind I like to pay attention to the meta descriptions in my projects, using the appropriate HTML tags for spiders as well as checking Google Analytics to track traffic in my site. I have also seen the importance of social media integration to reach your target audience.
Before BCIT
Before coming to Canada and studying at BCIT I went to college at the United States of America. I graduated cum laude there earning a double major Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology. Living in a different culture and studying psychology at the same time gave me many insights into the human mind. I got to learn about the many different types of personalities as well as how people learn and view information differently.
After graduating I also worked as a teacher for a few years. This allowed me to put my knowledge to the test and try to find different and creative ways to reach students. I ended up with creative material that other teachers often borrowed to use in their classes. During this time I felt that it would be interesting to improve skills with more diverse tools such as Adobe Photoshop. This lead me to seek further education so I save up enough to move to Canada and improve my skills.
The Future
I really enjoy learning new skills and I believe that there are many opportunities for us out there if we work hard enough. I hope to be fortunate enough to be in a position where I can keep learning new things and improving my skills. I plan to continue working with my creativity as well as finding new and interesting ways to reach people.
