Meet Pepper Interactive Epub Project
Client: School Project
Date: November, 2016
Tools: Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
Description: The purpose of this project was to create an interactive epub. When brainstorming ideas for this project I decided to create an epub for children because it would make the project more entertaining. With that in mind I then created a Persona for my intended target audience. The project had to have an original story but we were allowed to use copyright free images if needed. While researching ideas for my epub’s story, I found a copyright free source of images and stories I could use at https://www.peppercarrot.com .
I found the images there very inspiring and decided to use them to create my story. After checking the website for the correct use of the images, I edited them and used them to create my own pepper and carrot story. Once I had my story done, I created concept thumbnails for possible layout ideas and chose one to create roughs and use as a base for my InDesign files. In the end, I created a fourteen page short story with interactive features including a menu, animations, and a page navigator.
Process: Ideas were considered while looking at the Pepper and Carrot website. I chose that website because it has many open source images I could choose from. I read all the stories on the site and tried to think of possible stories I could create using the copyright-free images
Brainstorming Ideas: Children’s story using Pepper and Carrot website (open source)
- A witch and her teachers
- A story about recycling
- A story about dragons
- Pepper and her secret (chosen story)
With a story in mind I then created a persona for the project. My next step was to create concept thumbnails and roughs for my project. Once that was done I then used Indesign, photoshop and Illustrator to create my final epub
